KRISTIN BIEN
Anchor / Reporter
I grew up in Huntley, Illinois. Huntley is a small town about an hour west of Chicago (Or at least I thought it was a small town until I moved to Surrey in November of 2005.) Growing up, my dream was to be a Broadway star. I attended the University of Indianapolis where I majored in Theatre my freshman year. I realized after taking a broadcasting class, my real passion was for news.
In college I immersed myself in Television. I interned at the NBC affiliate in Indianapolis. I was awarded, 2003 First Place for "Best TV Package" with the Indiana Association of Schools, in 2004, Second Place for "TV News or Feature Package" and also in 2004 a Third Place award with the Society of Professional Journalists for "Best Reporting". I graduated with a B.S. in Communication, an emphasis on Electronic Media.
I started at KMOT-TV in November 2005. I am the education reporter but I do every type of story. I am always looking for ideas for my series, "Education in Action." You can also see me every day on the Noon Report in the interview section and every night anchoring the 6 o'clock news cast.
I love my job. I get to meet great people, and hear their interesting stories. As a Journalist, I feel blessed to be able to serve my community while doing work I love. Through the stories I tell everyday on the News I have learned so much about North Dakota. And although I grew up in Illinois, North Dakota is now my home.
I care a lot about this community. I am the Secretary/Treasurer on the Board of Directors for the Souris Valley Humane Society. I am also on the advisory board for Minot's Community Volunteer Resource Center.
My fiancé and I recently bought a home in Minot where we live with our miniature poodle, Chewy, and our schnoodle, Daisy. When I am not at work, I am probably working with the Souris Valley Humane Society, camping, taking walks, or at the Dog Park. |
