People from as far away as Montana came out to Velva to help and fill sandbags for the city.
Sandbags were being filled on the eastside of Verendrye Electric starting at 9:00 a.m. People of all ages came to fill and tie in preparation of possible flood. With all the help from the community, Mayor Cindy Shattuck says they are ready to put up a fight.
"It`s so amazing. People come over from all over. We`ve probably had 90 volunteers out here. People filling in wherever they are needed," says Cindy Shattuck, Velva Mayor.
