River Swollen in Burlington

| As the river rises in Foxholm, all that water is making it`s way downstream. The Des Lacs river is rising in Burlington. The city has done extensive sandbagging along the river in anticipation of high river levels. Along Project Road, a more rural part of the town, the high water levels were nearing homes and property. Residents woke up this morning to a river they had never seen before. In the past 24 hours the river has risen about four feet. This has surprised many residents who despite the preparations, didn`t think it would get this high. "I figured without rain and a slow melt I figured nothing like this would ever happen. I never expected to see water this high, and there it is. And it is going to rain on Wednesday," says Darreld Scott who lives next door to the river. Scott hasn`t had any major flooding issues yet other than seepage in his basement. So far only a few other properties are experiencing the type of flooding Scott is. |
