Corps Examines River Levels | Video
4/13/2009
The Army Corps of Engineers is in Minot collecting data from rivers and streams throughout the area.

The Corps works around area water supplies to collect data and pass it on to the National Weather Service to help assist in forecasting potential flooding.

Forecast models are used to help predict the flooding, but the Corps is on the ground to measure the amount of remaining snow and working coolies in the Souris Basin.

"We`re pretty much the eyes and ears for them right now as well as providing information about snow packs and things like that," says Ed Eaton, Civil Engineers, Army Corps of Engineers.

The Corps built the existing levee`s after the 1969 flood and Eaton says this year`s flood projections are the highest since then.
