Those who have been effected by flood water are not only urged to report their damages to FEMA but to the Red Cross as well.
In many areas flood victims are working to get FEMA aid. Twenty-six counties have already qualified for the FEMA individual assistance program which means homeowners and businesses effected can get assistance. County leaders say people need to be on a FEMA contact list in order to be considered for assistance.
"The Red Cross will put them on a list. That list is what FEMA uses. They will take that list and contact all the homeowners and political subdivisions. They will come out and review your damages and that is how they determine who gets hold and who doesn`t. You have to get a hold of the Red Cross," says Ward County Commissioner Jerome Gruenberg.
