Saint Joseph Catholic School in Mandan is making room for 20 more students next school year. More than 12-hundred families already attend the church. Fundraisers are held throughout the year to help support the school`s operation costs, but this is the one many motorcyclists have been waiting for.
"I just look forward to getting a good ride in after the long winter, I fueled up the bike yesterday and its just good to be out and its good to be together with a lot of my friends and I also look forward to a safe ride," said Father Patrick Schumacher.
"It just goes to show how much people enjoy the ride and camaraderie of each other and just to be together, just to share the fun, outdoors of North Dakota," said Douglas Kruckenbery, a rider.
More than 100 motorcycles and dozens of classic cars will drive from Mandan to Strasburg to visit Saints Peter and Paul church. All of the money raised at the Fun Run will help cover the costs of Saint Joseph`s 1.3 million dollar budget.
"Feel the open freedom of riding out. You feel one with nature I guess," said Doug.
"When you turn the corner to look back and see 4 or 5 miles of motorcycles, is really neat," said Father Patrick Schumacher.
By hitting the open road, these riders are opening up opportunities for future students.
