Spending over $2.6 million in Federal Stimulus funds has not been a challenge for the city of Minot.
The funds are available to the city because FEMA declared a disaster in the area.
On June 24th, the Minot City Council spend nearly $1.6 million of the federal funds on road construction projects and construction engineering.
Roads like Burdick Expressway are still in need of repairs due to heavy trucks carrying sandbags around the city.
"We still have about $980,000 we expect that we can put towards more stimulus projects. We`re working with the DOT and Public Works staff to determine the best places to put those," says city engineer Rusten Rotelick.
The remaining money must be used on street maintenance on federal aid road systems.
