Spring floodwaters have long since receded in southeastern North Dakota, but not everyone who was displaced has been able to return home.
At least six LaMoure County households south of Jamestown remain displaced. Emergency Services Director Sheri Gartner says those affected include single people, senior citizens and families with children.
They are part of two dozen households that voluntarily evacuated in late March and early April.
Adrian resident Reid Jawaski is one whose home was heavily damaged. He says he`s still living out of a suitcase at his parents` house. He plans to move into a modular home, but not until October.
Jawaski says there isn`t much that can be done but hope that things will improve soon. |
