| The sun shining, people clapping, and thousands of floats lining through the streets of Minot could only mean one thing, the 2009 North Dakota State Fair Parade. "It`s a gorgeous day," says Randy Kramer, rider on the VFW float. With the temperature just right, Randy Kramer was not complaining about the beautiful weather outside. He`s been in the parade for years and has seen his share of bad weather. "One time it was raining and windy, and another time it was over 100 degrees," says Kramer. And as Kramer got set to go with the rest of the hundreds of floats, the crowd was ready to watch, and for kids it was a time to catch some treats. "I`ve gotten a lot of candy," says Taylor Shawns. The parade wasn`t just about candy, you had anything from horses, to clowns, and even some big, red, noisy trucks. "My favorite part is the fire trucks and the old cars," says Shawns. This year`s theme for the parade was "Rockin` the Bakken," and there were plenty of floats representing North Dakota`s energy fields. "It`s is just a great thing to watch," says Kramer. The crowd got to watch two full hours of floats and fun. After the parade was over, guests still had plenty to celebrate as this was only day two of the North Dakota State Fair. |
