North Dakota health officials report swine flu cases among people who recently returned from a Lutheran youth gathering in Louisiana.
A Health Department statement says about 26 people suffered flu-like illness after returning from Louisiana in late July. Health officials say samples were taken from five people and all five tested positive for swine flu. All are recovering and none was hospitalized.
State epidemiologist Tracy Miller says the cases involve both teenagers and adults, mostly in Walsh and Traill counties. She says more than 1,000 people from North Dakota left around July 22 for the youth gathering and returned around July 26.
Miller says the cluster of cases reinforces the importance of preventing the spread of the flu. She says people should realize it`s still a problem. |
