Woman Charged with Trying to Beat up Witness
9/2/2009
A woman is charged with trying to beat up a witness in a case against a Fort Totten man accused of domestic assault.

Bonnie Lou Cavanaugh is charged in federal court with obstructing justice by retaliating against a witness, victim or informant. Authorities say Cavanaugh punched and pulled the hair of Linda Mae Adams.

The indictment says Adams gave information to police in the case of Roman Cavanaugh Jr., who was charged with domestic assault by a habitual offender. He`s scheduled for trial Oct. 27.

The 28-year-old Bonnie Cavanaugh faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison if convicted. The indictment does not specify the relationship between Bonnie Cavanaugh and Roman Cavanaugh. Attorneys could not be reached for comment.
