A grass fire southwest of Minot burned about 45 acres Sunday afternoon before firefighters were able to put it out.
Minot Rural, Burlington and Des Lacs Fire Departments were called to the fire just after noon.
A stubble field, just off of country road 15 was ignited by a combine.
When fire fighters arrived on scene about 45 acres had already burned.
They managed to get the fire under control in about an hour.
This time of year is usually busy for fire fighters.
"The heat and wind just dried everything up. A couple weeks ago we had heavy rain. That moisture is gone now. Just ask all farm owners and land owners doing controlled burns just to be aware. It doesn`t take much and it is out of control," says Rob Knuth of the Minot Rural Fire Department," said Rob Knuth, of the Minot Rural Fire Department
Fire officials say, the weather was on their side.
If the wind had been blowing in the opposite direction, buildings on the property would have burned.
