Williams County authorities are estimating about $100,000 in total damage after a delivery truck exploded near a house just off U.S. Highway 2. No one was hurt.
Sheriff`s Lt. Verlan Kvande said the driver of the Schwan`s truck heard a hissing noise about 10 a.m. Monday, while driving west of Williston, and pulled into a driveway near the house to check the truck. He discovered it was on fire.
Kvande said the driveshaft dropped out and the truck rolled toward the house. The driver, knowing the truck was fueled by propane, worried it would explode and ran to the other side of the house.
The sheriff`s office said the truck was destroyed. Its value was estimated at about $65,000, and damage to the house was estimated at about $35,000. Kvande said no one was in the house at the time of the explosion. |
