A kitchen fire interrupted business at a popular truck stop near Minot.
At about 10:30 the Minot Rural Fire Department was called to Behm`s Truck Stop which is located just west of Minot.
Ward County Sheriff Vern Erck was the first to arrive. He noticed smoke and flames coming out of multiple exhaust vents on the roof of the building.
Erck emptied seven fire extinguishers into the vents but the fire continued to burn.
Erck says it started as a small kitchen fire but quickly got out of control.
Fire departments from Minot Rural and Burlington were able to get the flames under control.
"The fire department is inside now working at it from the kitchen area. They will start ventilating it and getting some of the smoke out. I would suspect there is a quite a bit of damage to it. It will take a complete renovation to get it back up and running," says Erck.
About 30 people were evacuated from the gas station and restaurant. No injuries were reported.
