You`ve heard all the warnings about getting flu shots or taking other sanitary precautions to avoid getting sick.
But some areas are being hit especially hard.
A Flu Center opening in Crookston, Minnesota tomorrow.
And in one home, the the whole family may have H1N1.
The flu has been running rampant at the Roed`s home.
All three kids got sick a week ago Sunday. They`re just about over it.
Eric went through it last weekend and now, Mom Nicki is getting sick.
"Coughing all night long," says Eric. "It`s persistent with the cough. You can hear the kids in the background."
"Yeah. They all had a high fever," says Nicki.
It`s gotten so bad in Polk County, Riverview Health in Crookston is opening a Flu Center.
Eighty percent of their emergency room patients have the flu. So, flu patients will now get a hotline number to call.
If patients are asked to come in, they`ll be escorted to this isolated Flu Center on the second floor.
"We are asking everyone to call first to be check out. but, we will be seeing patients here also. but, its an information center," says Joy Johnson, of the Riverview Health Center. "It`s a call center. but, we`ll have medical providers available to treat patients who do come in."
And if the Roed family is any indication of what`s happening in Polk County, Riverview`s Flu Center could become a very busy place.
The Crookston Flu Center will have a hotline number and the treatment center will be open daily.
