Imagine being stirred from your sleep by the sounds of drums, flutes, and trumpets, to name a few.

It`s either the newest revolution in waking up, - or a sneaky surprise.

This isn`t halftime at a high school football game, though it sure sounds like it.

Rather, it was very loud alarm clock for a Harmony family.

"I heard these drums and I thought, we got our grandchildren out here and I thought they were banging on something in the house," says Claire Tieskotter. "Then I realized it was something else."

7:30 a.m. Wednesday, the Fillmore High School Marching Band struck up a stir at the Tieskotter`s home, something Claire and Jo hadn`t planned on.

This was planned, however, by the winner of the band`s annual raffle - their daughter-in-law.

After Jackie Tieskotter`s daughter called to share the news, Jackie immediately told her who were going to be the recipients of the wake-up raffle.

"Perfect! It`s going to grandma and grandpa."

So for twenty minutes, the marching band played, garnering a small crowd and glances from passing cars on Highway 52. Not an everyday sight, but something the band does yearly, and the surprise factor works.

"I saw a bus drive in the yard and all the band kids were getting off with their instruments and I thought, `What`s going on,`" says Jo.

This isn`t an in-laws feud; it`s some good `ol fun.

And a successful wake-up call.

The proceeds from the raffle go to the Fillmore Central High School Marching Band. In particular, these funds are going toward a trip out west in 2011.
