For more than half a century, Warren Froelich and his family have cultivated a livelihood from breeding quality horses.
And their work was honored recently, when the American Quarter Horse Association presented Froelich with the Legacy Breeder Award.
Froelich says his love for horses stemmed from his own father`s dedication to the breed.
"And then in the late 40s, he purchased his first quarter horses," Froelich says. "And that was just basically a way of life, and those horses were used to kind of keep attention, and keep his children active and out of trouble. And then my four brothers and I, and my mother, we continued on with his legacy and his dream."
Froelich says he is sharing the award with his four brothers, Terry, Rodney, Kurt, and Kelly, who help him manage their family ranch.
Two other breeders, a man from Westby, Montana, and another man from Medora were also honored with the award.
