When you think of dirty places or germs, most people visualize places like a toilet.
Many people spend hours cleaning the bathroom, ridding it of germs.
But germs don`t stick to just the bathroom.
"They are on people`s boots when they come in the house," says Loretta Essler, Kenmare, ND.
We asked a couple of shoppers at Marketplace Foods, `Where are some of the dirtiest places?`
"Barns," says Tony Mertes, Butte,ND.
"Toilets," says Fern Zavalney, Butte,ND.
Forget the toilet seat, when it comes to dirty places the shopping cart has on average more than a million germs.
"Yuck," says Essler.
Shopping carts have been found to be home to things like blood, mucus, saliva, urine, even e-coli.
"I would bet that," says Zavalney.
Some supermarkets have started installing hand sanitizer stations around the store to help make your trip a little more germ-free.
"I sometimes grab them," says Mertes.
Marketplace Foods in Minot has a station so their customers can leave the germs in a wipe cloth and not take them home.
"I think it`s smart," says Mertes.
And being smart means playing it safe, keeping you from getting sick.
Playgrounds and bus rails have been found to carry even more germs than a shopping cart.
