Boo at the Zoo Kids Day

| Click here to display images in this email. These stuffed Lions may be the scariest part of Boo at the Zoo Kids Day. That`s because this event at Minot`s Roosevelt Park Zoo is more about fun than fright. "It`s designed for the littler kids," said Jamie Swenson, events coordinator for the zoo. "They can come and Trick or Treat, do Halloween crafts, get their picture taken in their costume and see the not so scary haunted house." The kids day haunted house - in the basement of the zoo`s education center - is not about making you scream. The winding maze still has the Zombies and Haunted pumpkin patch, but "there`s no one jumping out," Swenson said. "There`s lights on. We have tour guides showing them where to go." So it`s still smiles for the kids when they get to the end. "It`s still fun," Swenson said. "And if they`re brave enough to come tonight, since they have a preview, they can come back. But now they know their way around." And then they`re ready to trick or treat inside the education center and get some candy and other goodies. "It`s another safe, warm thing to do on Halloween," Swenson said. With kids day in it`s 13th year and about 2000 people participating this time around, it sure is popular, too. "Everybody tells us it is better every year," Swenson said. "They love the haunted house. They love that we do something different every year." And the zoo staff says they love the event just as much as the visitors, if not more. Because it gives them one last chance to see guests before the Roosevelt Park Zoo shuts down for the year. |
