You`ve heard of the spelling bee, but now a local boy is making his way to the nation`s capital for the Bible Bee. Caleb Hoverson, a 12 year old from Minot, has memorized hundreds of Bible passages to prepare for the national Bible Bee.
A total of 100 students from across the country will compete this week in Washington, D.C. by reciting various Bible verses.
Caleb qualified for the national event by winning a local Bible Bee held at Our Redeemers School and having one of the top 100 scores in the country.
Caleb says he`s been practicing with friends and family since May to build his Bible knowledge.
"For a while I was working four hours a day," Caleb said. "Sometimes it was just two hours. Actually my brother was a real inspiration for working hard at it. And I think if it weren`t for him, I wouldn`t be this far."
This is the first year for a national Bible Bee.
In all, 17,000 kids competed in about 500 local competitions with the top 100 earning an invitation to Washington, D.C. |
