Get ready to be counted - the U.S. Census is coming up quickly. And a local committee is making sure the Minot area is not short changed.
Minot`s Complete Census Committee is pushing to make sure the numbers actually reflect the amount of people in the Magic City.
The census count is used to determine federal money areas receive.
On average each person equals about $1000 in grant and aid money each year.
That`s why the Complete Census Committee wants to make sure everyone fills out the census survey.
"We are especially trying to target what is called the hard to reach population such as retired who may be gone a good share of the year, college students, oil field workers and other transient working groups," Complete Census Committee Chairman Ernie Medalen said.
This year`s survey is easier than many used in the past.
Each person will have to answer just ten questions about basic demographic information.
