New Energy Project Moving Forward
Samantha Mehrotra
11/11/2009
A new project proposed by the Mon-Dak Energy Alliance is now pushing forward.

The group is designing plans for a new diesel topping plant, to be based near the Trenton area.

Even though the project is still in the initial stages, Mayor Ward Koeser says that plant would help build a strong tax base, create jobs, and diversify the local economy. He also says the plant will get rid of excess crude, which is becoming a bigger problem.

"First of all, we all recognize that we have trouble getting rid of the crude in this region," says Koeser. "As we`re being so efficient in producing crude, we have a difficult time getting rid of it. And so we`re taking discounts on the price of it because we can`t get it out of the region. So if they can start processing a certain amount of that crude that would."

Plans for the diesel topping plant will be discussed in more detail during the Mon-Dak Energy Alliance`s meeting November 19 in Sidney. It starts at 7 p.m. at the Country Club, and the public is invited to attend.
