The Minot Rural Fire Department is adding an extra touch to its building to honor volunteer firefighters.
Members of the department used their time off for Veterans` Day to put a memorial statue in place.
The department obtained the statue earlier this year to recognize the time and effort volunteer frefighters dedicate to saving lives.
They placed the firefighter Wednesday in its permanent home in front of the station so all of Minot can see it.
"We want to show that it`s not just chasing the fires, not jumping into trucks and running with lights and sirens and stuff," Assistant Chief Rob Knuth said. "We actually want to give back to the community."
The statue and other materials cost around $1500.
Donations and proceeds from the fire department`s pancake breakfast paid for the statue and pavers.
