A new law in Minot will hopefully help stolen property return to it`s rightful owner
Last week, the Minot City Council, approved an ordinance that will make pawn shops enter all of their inventory onto a website. This will then allow law enforcement to see what items are in the store, making it easier for them to track stolen property if they enter pawn shops.
"Say you have a black hills ring that`s missing. They`ll put that in the system and we can see a picture. We will be able to pick out particular pieces of property," says Det. Jason Sundbakken, Minot Police Department.
The ordinance will go into effect on January 1st.
