More people are eligible to receive swine flu vaccines at a free clinic at Minot`s Municipal Auditorium.
But officials say they are disappointed with the low number of newly-eligible, school-age children at Saturday`s clinic.
Saturday marked the first time healthy children ages 10 through 24 in Minot could receive the vaccine.
The First District Health Unit went through 500 doses of H1N1 shots in the clinic`s first hour.
But turnout decreased sharply by late morning.
Officials had at least 2200 doses on hand and expected to vaccinate more people at Minot`s first weekend flu clinic.
"It`s disappointing actually," First District Health Unit`s Penny Hamilton said. "I would have liked to see a lot more school-aged children. We purposefully planned for a Saturday because we know there are a lot of parents who are concerned about taking their children out of school and having to do waiting or whatever."
The First District Health Unit will hold more H1N1 vaccine mass clincs in the upcoming weeks.
More and more people should become eligible at each clinic, and officials urge people to stop by the clinics to receive the vaccine. |
