North Dakota`s National Guard commander says morale is high among soldiers deployed to Kosovo as part of a peacekeeping mission.
Maj. Gen. David Sprynczynatyk returned to Bismarck from Kosovo late Sunday night after visiting the soldiers.
The Guard says the North Dakota group of about 650 is among soldiers from 40 states with a mission to help keep the peace in the Balkans region. Brig. Gen. Alan Dohrmann of the North Dakota National Guard is leading the multinational force.
The North Dakota soldiers have been in Kosovo since late last month. They will be there for about a year.
Sprynczynatyk says it`s the largest deployment of its kind for the North Dakota National Guard in more than 50 years. |
