Duck and Goose Migration
11/16/2009
We humans aren`t the only ones enjoying this warmer than normal weather.

Geese are sticking around and enjoying it as well.

In this flock of snow geese are just some of the birds that stayed in the state all year, as a result of the wet spring.

And most of them stuck around until at least last month.

Geese will likely stay in the state a little longer this year, but October`s cool weather forced most of the ducks to fly south.

"We have lots of open water and usually when we have open water this late we have ducks," says Dr. Scott Stephens, of Ducks Unlimited. "I think a lot of them were pushed out by that cold temperatures and we haven`t had any move in from further north yet. But ducks in November are kind of a bonus if you live in North Dakota."

Stephens says some die-hard duck hunters might still be able to take advantage of the warm weather and watch out for mallards that could still be making their way through.
