Officials had to use snow plows to clean up a big mess on I-94 today.
A semi hauling grain lost its load this morning while heading east on I-94.
The materials stretched from Casselton to Mapleton and was four to six inches deep in one spot.
That`s where a car rear-ended a mini-van that had slowed down.
Lifeflight took a passenger in the car to a hospital, and both drivers were taken by ambulance to hospitals.
The interstate was closed for more than an hour while crews plowed and sanded the road.
"Winter driving on a nice day, I guess," says Sgt. Troy Hischer, of the ND Highway Patrol. "Don`t know how to explain it. It was unbelievable when we first arrived how slippery the interstate was."
Troopers say the driver of the semi left the scene, but they caught up to him further down the road.
