20 Hotels Help Red Cross, Fire Victims
12/15/2009
20 western North Dakota hotels from Bismarck to Beach are banding together to help families burned out of their homes. The hotels have donated 125 nights of rooms to the Red Cross` new "Rooms for a Year Campaign." The program allows families affected by house fires to stay in a hotel room for up to three nights. The Red Cross helps 30 to 40 families affected by fires in western North Dakota each year, and these donated rooms will allow the Red Cross to be even more helpful.

"It comes to about $3,500 a year of support that we are receiving from this campaign. It means a great deal to us and allows us to use other donated dollars for other aspects of services like clothing and food stipends for families," says Red Cross executive director Janel Schmitz.

Even though it`s called Rooms for a Year, the rooms are being donated for the next two years.
