The state`s Department of Human Services has been awarded a more than $125,000 grant to begin a pilot program to serve at-risk youth in northern North Dakota.
The program will target people ages 14-24 who have serious mental illnesses and are making the transition to the adult system of care. Among other things, the program will teach basic living skills, offer work force training and placement and help participants establish a support network of mentors.
Beginning in January, the program will serve a region including Bottineau, Burke, McHenry, Mountrail, Pierce, Renville and Ward counties. The department`s Division of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Service received the grant from the Federal Mental Health Services Administration. |
