Poker Tourney Wraps Up | Video
Jacob Kaucher

Las Vegas made the game famous, but now Texas hold `em is drawing hundreds to Minot.

The North Dakota Poker Championship is the largest competition of its kind outside of Sin City.

The final day of action kicked off at 11 Saturday morning.

This year`s tournament saw a record number of competitors with 1491 taking part in the action.

And with the winner likely to play more than 30 hours of poker, players recognize endurance is key.

"At the end of the day you`re just exhausted," two-time top ten finisher Mike Hasc says. "The last two years when I`ve been on the final table, I slept for a day and a half afterward because you`re completely drained. You can`t hardly function for a couple days. So yeah, that`s the tough part."

"Pay attention. Concentrate," entrant Barb Cuthill says. "Good cards make a whole lot of difference, but if you`re not paying attention it just flies by you."

All that poker playing will be worth it.

The payout for this year`s event is a record $37, 500.
