Women`s Heart Health | Video
1/28/2010
According to the American Heart Association, one in three North Dakota women will die from heart disease, and a Dickinson group wants to shrink that statistic for women in the southwestern part of the state.

Pathways to Healthy Lives is launching a new program, teaching women how to avoid becoming another statistic. Free screening and life coaching is being offered to women ages 40 to 64, who meet income and insurance eligibility requirements.

"Right now, at this point, we do not offer any type of heart disease screenings. And so this is an exciting new program that will also allow the women in the Women`s Way program to also be able to have some heart disease screening, which I have discovered that many of the women have avoided that due to the cost," said R.N. Leah Madler, outreach worker for Pathways to Healthy Lives.

Pathways to Healthy Lives is part of Southwestern District Health Unit. For more information, you can call 701-483-3050.
