The check was presented to the Williston State College Athletic Department today. The funds will be used to upgrade Phil Rabon Field and to jump start the new softball program at the college.
"We raise funds that can really compliment what goes on here in the community, and it`s a good source for organizations that wouldn`t necessarily have the ability to raise this much money in a relatively sort period of time so it really can benefit a lot of groups whether it`s a big group like the college or a smaller group, they have the ability to really compliment what they`ve already raised to give them a boost for whatever their project happens to be," said Mercy Medical Center Foundation Director Warren Sundet.
The WSC Athletic Department was honored to be chosen as this year`s recipient.
"Dollar-wise I don`t think we could be more pleased. It happened quickly and the gang at Mercy helped us out immensely, and it just worked out great. This is a nice great easy way for us to start the fund-raising for the fast pitch program," said Athletic Director Hunter Berg.
The sale has raised a cumulative total of just over $725,000 throughout its 22 year history.
