Volunteers Needed For Health Drill | Video

Retha Colclasure | 6/22/2012

If you want to give back to the community, and get a piece of candy for your efforts, then the Bismarck-Burleigh Public Health Department could use your help next week. Public health units are preparing for a disaster, so that if one really happened, they wouldn`t be caught off-guard.

They`re setting up a fake public health disaster, such as an outbreak of H1N1 or anthrax, where people need to go to quickly receive antibiotics.

"In order to make this exercise successful we need help from the public. We have all the staff to fill spots we would normally fill. We need people to come through and pretend like they`re getting the antibiotics," said Jody Kerzman with Bismarck-Burleigh Public Health.

The drill will take place on Thursday, June 28, at Century High School from 2:00 to 4:00.
