Sam McQuade Tournament Day Two | Video

Alexander Gorney | 6/23/2012

Day two of the Sam McQuade Charity Softball Tournament is underway. And play is continuing into the evening. Hundreds of teams from 15 divisions are playing on 40 diamonds around Bismarck and Mandan.

And they`re drawing a crowd. So far, the rain has stayed away, although spots in the shade are at a premium.

In 37 years of the tournament, games have only been rained out twice. Once in 1986 and again last year.

“It’s been pretty steady all day," said volunteer Nicole Hager. “People coming and going. It`s nice so everybody`s coming out checking out the games. Pretty good games all day."

Tournament organizers will be awarding the 84 trophies following the championship and consolation rounds tomorrow.
