Beulah Shooting Trial Continues | Video

Two people who were with the two men accused of conspiring to shoot and kill two men in Beulah in January took the stand this morning. Today is the second day of trial for Richard Whitman and Cody Borner. They`re on trial for shooting and killing Michael Padilla and injuring his brother Timothy in a Beulah apartment on January 31st.

Colter Langord and Amber Holleson say they spent the 30th and 31st with the two men. Holleson testified about hearing the men talk about going to rob someone of drugs and possibly an Xbox. But defense attorneys say the conversation had nothing to do with violence.

"Convo about getting money and drugs. Did they ever talk about doing harm, killing, bringing firearms. Nothing about doing harm to anyone. Only convo centered around getting drugs and money. Nothing tied to violence. No planning taking place," said Travis Finck, Whitman`s defense attorney.

Two others who live in apartment across the hall from where the shooting took place testified that they heard a brief argument on the 31st, followed quickly by two gunshots. They said they called 911 and hid in their hallway with the lights off until police came to their door.
