Minot Man Pleads Guilty to Assaulting Federal Officer

A Minot man pleaded guilty yesterday to a charge of assaulting and resisting a federal officer. Vincent M. Anderson, 33, pleaded guilty to the charge in U.S. District Court.

In March, an officer with the Bureau of Indian Affairs pulled a vehicle over in the Belcourt area. Anderson was a passenger in the vehicle. The officer attempted to detain Anderson. He resisted, hitting the officer in the face.

The charge carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine.

Anderson will be sentenced on August 27.
