Bismarck Pledges $1.5 Million to Community Bowl | Video

Joel Porter | 6/26/2012

A project to renovate and expand the Bismarck Community Bowl will continue on schedule. City commissioners have approved a request for more money from members of the Protect Our Turf campaign. The city had previously offered $500,000 to help pay for the work. Commissioners unanimously agreed to increase that to $1.5 million.

The eight million dollar project would include a new scoreboard, locker rooms and press box, along with several corporate suites.

"It`s had very broad support with the private sector really contributing over 62 percent of the cost of this project. In short, it`s good government," Protect Our Turf Co-Chair Todd Steinwand said.

Bismarck will pay $500,000 this year for the project, followed by $250,000 annually over the next four years. Construction is scheduled to be finished in 2013.
