Rebecca Helm loves to take pictures, and she`s good at it. So good that her photographs have been published in magazines, on greeting cards and in the North Dakota Horizons Calendar.

"I look for lighting. Many times during the day the lighting isn`t right for certain places, so you have to wait for a special time to go back and get that right lighting."

Taking pictures isn`t work for Helm, it`s a chance to get away.

"Picture taking, to me, is an escape. A lot of people that I know that are in to taking pictures will say the same thing. It`s an escape, you just go out there and just forget about everything else."

Helm enjoys photographing nature because it brings back fond memories of her childhood.

"My grandfather had a farm when I was a child, and he would take us on walks. That maybe is what kind of interest me in nature so much. I`ve been around it all my life."

This year’s North Dakota Horizons Calendar features two of Rebecca`s photos, including the cover photo. Her passion for photography will probably lead to many more memorable pictures in the years to come.
