Fireworks Unlawful in the City of Minot

| 6/28/2012

The Minot Police Department reminds residents that it is against the law to use fireworks within the city of Minot. The city ordinance states: "It shall be unlawful for any person within the city limits to possess, store, to offer for sale, expose for sale, sell at retail, use or explode any fireworks within the city of Minot."

Violations carry a $150 fine.

The department says that fireworks cause emergency personnel to respond to unnecessary noise, criminal mischief, and disorderly conduct complaints. They add that hot and dry conditions increase the possibility of unnecessary fires and fire calls.
