Crime Up Nearly 11 Percent in 2011

| 7/2/2012

North Dakota`s population went up last year, and so did the crime rate. While the overall crime rate in 2011 was up nearly eleven percent, Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem says North Dakota still has one of the lowest crime rates in the nation.

Violent crimes were up 16 percent, yet they still represent less than ten percent of all crimes.

While aggravated assaults were up almost 23 percent statewide, they were up 55 percent in oil field counties.

Jessica Roose will have more on the crime numbers on the Evening Report at 6:00.
