Golden Eagle Award Nominees | Video

Kristin Clouston | 7/2/2012

Members of our military sacrifice time with their families, and often miss work at their regular jobs in order to protect our freedom and property and they couldn`t do it without the support of business owners. The Bismarck-Mandan Chamber of Commerce is recognizing members who exhibit outstanding military support and want your help selecting this year`s Golden Eagle Award.

Bismarck-Mandan businesses have a strong history of supporting the military but chamber and community members say Basin Electric Power Cooperative, Bismarck State College, BNSF Railway, I. Keating Furniture World and the University of Mary go above and beyond.

"These businesses are the type of businesses that kind of go under the radar with their support. They`re not out waving a flag about the support that they share with the military community," said Dot Frank with the Bismarck-Mandan Chamber of Commerce.

Military leaders say companies like this are the reason they can do their jobs so effectively.

"Allowing people to take off extra time, especially if there is a disaster like in the flood, extra time for training. All these types of events and they`ve just been a great asset to our organization," said Col. Scott Boespflug, Command Group Executive Officer with the North Dakota National Guard.

"They can visit bismarckmandan.com and there`s a button and that tells them to vote for the Golden Eagle Award and they help determine the business that receives it," Frank said.

You can vote anytime through July 31.

The winner of this year`s Golden Eagle Award will be announced at the Celebrate Bismarck Mandan community event on August 16.
