Neighbors say the couple was kind and friendly.
Karen Olson was just getting home from work when she saw the mess on her formerly quiet street around 4:30, just as investigators were bringing out the bodies of her neighbors.
"Scott has lived here his whole life, it still hasn`t sunk in yet. there`s never been anything like this on this street before."
She hustled her 6-year-old daughter indoors before she could ask too many questions about what police say appears to be a husband who turned on his wife, then himself. The little girl had just met Daniel and Linda Williams a couple of weeks ago.
"She said, `Mommy, they`re so nice, their house is so nice.` I said, `Well, that`s great, but you can`t just go pushing yourself inside like that.`"
Olson says she did notice the Williamses had missed their usual streetwide fireworks watching tradition. She didn`t, at the time, make anything of it.
She, and the rest of the tight-knit neighborhood, are left wondering what could have triggered this.
The bodies have been sent to Bismarck for autopsies. Daniel Williams was 54, Linda was 51.
