Defensive Driving Course at MSU | Video

Jenny Castro | 7/17/2012

A defensive driving course is being held this Saturday at Minot State University. The course will be hosted by the North Dakota Safety Council and the goal is to help reduce the number of vehicle injuries.

Many insurance companies offer a discount for individuals who have completed the course. And it also makes you eligible for a three point discount on your driving record.

At Minot State University, the course is a new requirement for the use of their state fleet vehicles. The university plans to pay for their students and staff to take the course, and also offer more courses throughout the year.

"I think it`s a good course, something we should all have but now that it`s offered as part of our employment here on campus, it`s going to potentially effect 550 people, so it`s a very good course for our people,” said Roger Kluck, assistant VP of facilities management at Minot State.

The course does require pre-payment and registration and you can do that at www.ndsc.org/training. It is from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Memorial Hall on the Minot State campus.
