Ground Breaking For Crisis Center | Video

Jenny Castro | 7/17/2012

During last year`s flood, the domestic violence crisis center in Minot lost both of it`s transitional shelters. Now, those shelters will become part of the new center in southeast Minot.

Tuesday, the Campus of Hope held it`s ground breaking ceremony for the new domestic violence crisis center. The center received a $400,000 check from Bremer Bank Otto Foundation to go towards the new facility.

The campus will combine the crisis center, which is currently divided in four different locations in Minot.

"It`s been a dream of mine for many years to be able to have victims and staff together. More so, I think that it`s going to be better financially. We`ll have less driving and travel and transportation and things like that but I think just to be able to be more accessible to the clients in the shelter, the residents in the shelter and the residents in the transitional. I think it`s just going to be wonderful,” said Executive Director Dena Filler.

The first phase of the center will be completed in December. That phase will include the staff offices and one of the four-plex transitional housing units.
