New Game and Fish Area | Video

The North Dakota Game and Fish Department`s Conservation and Outdoor Skills Park has always been one of the main outdoor attractions at the fair. Since the flood, the area has been expanded to offer even more outdoor activities.

The park unveiled it`s new and improved grounds at the fair Thursday. Everything at the park is free: fishing, shooting, archery and education programs. The new pond is filled with fish and ready for casting. It`s the best area of the fair to find shade and grass.

Since last year`s flood, the park has expanded to twice the size and now has it`s own building.

"It`s improved miraculously. I mean, we didn`t have any grass out here. We had trees that didn`t make it through the flood. Throughout the whole area the water was basically five feet deep, so right about nose level. We had a lot of work but we got to it right away,” said Outreach Biologist Greg Gullickson.

The Conservation and Skills Park at the fair is open all day from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The pond is also open throughout the summer as a great urban fishery.
