New Movie Theater in Williston | Video

Chris Williams | 7/23/2012

Crews are close to beginning construction on a new 12 screen movie theater in Williston. When building begins, it will take about 10 months to complete. Once construction is finished, movie goers will be in for quite a surprise.

"It`s going to be unlike most theaters that you walk into around the country,” said Roger Thomas, Division Manager of Burke Construction Group.

T&J theaters own both movie theaters on Main Street, but they decided it was time to expand. Something they have been thinking about for awhile.

"The owners really want you to forget you`re in a movie theater. They want you to remember the movie. The movie theater is going to be a very nice building, but it`s being built solely for their patrons to enjoy the movies,” Thomas added.

The design and detail of the theater will make it different than other movie theaters.

"The difference is going to be right after you buy your concessions. Instead of having to walk 30, 40, 50 feet down a corridor, you turn right around and right off the lobby you go into the auditorium to see your movie,” said Thomas.

The new theater is creating some buzz around town.

"Very excited. I`ve been living here for 22 years now, and I just think it will be great to have it in town,” said resident Niko Kapetanovic.

It will be able to handle anything Hollywood has to offer.

"I think it will prepare us for the future, when technology keeps advancing we will be ahead of the ball game,” said Williston resident Wade Fischer.

With 12 screens, the movie theater will be able to provide a variety of movies.

"On the larger 12-plex theater, yes we will be able to have more movies. As a larger movie comes in, for instance Batman which just opened this weekend, you don`t have to let another movie go. Now you can put it in to circulation, and have 12 movies playing all at once."

The design of the Sand Creek movie theater will be a modern look blended with a little bit of an older feel.
