Military Appreciation Day At The Fair | Video

Amy Fox | 7/24/2012

The North Dakota State Fair is honoring the men and women who are currently serving or have served our country. Military Appreciation Day kicked off Tuesday with the annual military cook-out just outside the Commercial 2 building.

After the cook-out, members of the military and their families checked out some of the carnival rides for free.

“Whenever you go to a strange area, you know, say you get assigned to Minot Air Force Base and it`s your first base, you`re far away from family,” said Minot Air Force Base Colonel Max Mitchell. “And, so, when a community, like Minot, reaches out to us, and the Beef Council and those types of organizations, it is always a gratifying thing for those individuals."

To receive the military discounts at the fair, you must have your military ID.
