Department of Agriculture Streamlining CRP Grazing Process

| 7/26/2012

Hot and dry conditions are a problem for crops and cattle. With 87 percent of North Dakota considered abnormally dry or dryer, ranchers are struggling to feed their livestock.

The Department of Agriculture is streamlining the process to open Conservation Reserve Program acres for emergency haying and grazing. Once the Farm Service Agency decides the eligible counties, ranchers need to start the necessary paperwork at the FSA or the Natural Resources Conservation Service.

The earliest farmers and ranchers can graze or hay their CRP is August 2.
