An exciting free stage show at the fair this year is Welde`s Big Bear Show. This family owned show has Norwegian Brown Bears that have actually been in several movies.

The Welde family brought eight bears with them from Florida, and they switch off with two or three each show. The bears balance on balls, dance, and even do a little yoga in the show. Owner, Johnny Welde, has worked with bears since he was three and says there`s a common misconception about most bears.

“They`re not as mean as people particularly think. They`re all about food, you know, in the wild they have to scavenge, they have to kill, they have to survive so they have a real strong survival instinct, so people can be on their list, whatever they can find at the time,” says Welde.

Welde`s Big Bear Show is located at Stage 3 of the State Fair. They have shows everyday, at 1:30, 4:00, and 7:00.
